Kailey

This dog of ours is absolutely adorable.  We are completely smitten with her and for good reason.  She is quickly learning to potty train, plays with the kids marvelously, and loves to cuddle.  Unfortunately, she is also proving to be a very expensive dog.  Besides the actual price of her, we have learned that she has disjointed patellas (knees) and that they are pretty bad for a puppy.  There is a possibility of them firming up on their own but none of the three vets that we have seen think that is likely.  So in about six to eight months, we will learn if she  will need surgery.  A surgery that will cost about $2500 per knee!  Yikes!  We are waiting to see if she is actually in pain before we do the surgery.  Some dogs have this problem their entire life and  never need surgery.  We are hoping for that outcome:)

Also, poor Kailey is sick right  now.  She has had this awful productive cough that racks her entire little body.  Took her to the vet to find that she  has pneumonia.  We are hoping that the increased meds will help her recover quickly.  She has not been with us a month yet, and already I feel as if she is one of my kids.  I"m worried about  her.  We brought her into our room at night so we could listen to her breathe and just like a baby, both Terry and I woke up at the slightest sound from her.  Our little puppy is sick and we are so hoping that she gets better soon!

dude welcome to karma a sweet rescue dog could have been saved from being euthanized... and your pocket book would have thanked you as well.
but she is cute - not as cute as rescued dogs but cute.

Ryann, so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope she recovers quickly. Are you going to be up in the area anytime soon visiting your parents (when we can see you too)? Also, I'm impressed that you made 12 dozen cookies for cookie exchanges! I've already skipped two of those because I didn't want to bother.

Oh man-poor little puppy! I can see how you would treat her like one of your babies!! I remember how much we also loved our dogs. They really become part of your family! Hope she is well soon, and that in the long run you don't need to do the surgeries!!

and I'm with Jill-if we could see you even for an hour, it would be awesome!
